JUNIOR C CHAMPIONSHIP 3rd ROUND

Junior C Championship Castlemartyr 01 - 01. Valley Rovers. 06 - 08 We welcomed Valley Rovers to Castlemartyr on Wednesday evening last for our second round championship match. We began the encounter with a panel of 16, which in itself is an achievement. Our players battled hard in the first half with our defence soaking up a lot of pressure and denying Rovers a lot of scoring chances. We opened our account mid way through the first half when an expertly taken free from Aisling Murphy found its way to the back of the net. This was added to shortly afterwards by a Niamh Harney point, scored under pressure from the Rovers defence. This left us trailing 1-1 to 2-3 at half time. We competed well in the second half again but in the final quarter Valley Rovers fitness level and experience was the deciding factor. Overall a great team effort from our girls who no doubt will learn lessons from the encounter. At the beginning of the game the objective was to get scores on the board and compete. So mission accomplished.
