Across last Thursday and Friday we welcomed over 75 girls to our annual Summer Camogie Camp. The activities were spread across our two pitches with all groups having ample room to play and frolic. We were blessed with having most of our own coaches available for the sessions and delighted to be able to call on the services of Cork senior player Chloe Sigerson, Cork Minor captain Edel Lonergan, Eoin Cashman from Castlemartyr GAA and Eoin McCarthy to impart their vast knowledge and experience to our girls.
An extra special mention to the girls from our older panels who coached their younger club mates and without whom we couldn't have given our future stars the close attention they need. These older girls are such great roll models for our younger players. On Friday we had a visit from more of Cork's elite. Orla Cotter and Hannah Looney took time out from their hectic schedules to chat with the girls and stand in for a few photos. As always we are truly grateful for the time they give our girls.
The camp again was a huge success with lots of positive feedback from the girls themselves, their parents and our coaches. This camp couldn't have been possible but for the time and effort put in by a large number of people. The club would like to express its gratitude to everyone who helped make it so successful.
Also we would like to express our thanks to our local businesses The Village Greengrocer for providing the lunches for our coaches on Friday, to Aherne's Centra for the snacks and bottled water, and to Hurley's Supervalu Midleton for providing the fruit for the girls' mid morning snacks. An extra special thanks to Colm and Clodagh at Castle Pharmacy, our club sponsor, for their generosity, once again, sponsoring the training tops for this years camp. Every year we are supported by our local businesses and its important that we support them in return.
And on a final note congratulations to our u10 Rachel Lynch who's name was drawn out to win the €50 voucher to be spent in the club shop.
