A WINING START FOR U14s

The under 14 team had sucessful start to their league campagain with a win against Cobh on a scoreline of 08 - 09 to 05 - 01.

Monday evening saw the opening match in our league campaign with the under 14 girls taking on Cobh in a home fixture. Cobh started brightly and had raised the green flag with an early attack. This was countered with a a goal from Clodagh Mulhare, quickly followed by a superb point from Aimee Morgan. A point from a free from Aisling Harty and a second goal from Clodagh had Castlemartyr ahead. Cobh responded with a second goal and a point before Aisling stepped up and converted her second pointed free. Both teams scored another goal apiece to leave the score 3 - 3 to 3 - 1 at half time in favour of the home side.

With a rearranging of positions and the introduction of fresh legs the second half started with Castlemartyr upping the tempo. Five points from Aimee, Zara Bowles, and Aisling and a goal from Lucy Keneally had the home side well in control. Strong performances from Caoilfhionn Barry and Grainne Lynch in the middle of the field kept the pressure on. A fantastic point from Aisling from a very tight angle followed and four more goals from Aimee finished our scoring for the night. As the contest drew to a close two late goals from Cobh saw a final score line of Castlemartyr 08 - 09 to Cobh's 05 - 01.
