SUMMER CAMP 2018

On Friday and Saturday 17th and 18th of August we welcomed over 80 girls to our annual Summer Camogie Camp in Castlemartyr. Thanks to Castlemartyr GAA for the full use of both pitches on both days which allowed for the all the different groups to have loads of room to play and frolic. This year we relied more on our older girls to manage and run the activities for our u8s and under with Kieth and Dave keeping a watchful eye over proceedings. Our u9s to u13s were split into three groups, changing daily and rotated between guest coaches, Mike Fahalee, Eoin Cashman and Edel Lonergan, helped by our own Utlan Murphy. On Friday we had a visit from Cork's elite, Orla Cotter, Chloe Sigerson and Hannah Looney on the eve of their All Ireland Camogie senior semifinal against Galway. We really appreciate them taking time out from their hectic schedules to chat with the girls and stand in for a few photos. As always we are truly grateful for the time they give our girls. The camp again was a huge success with lots of positive feedback from the girls themselves, their parents and coaches. This camp couldn't have been possible but for the time and effort put in by a large number of people. The club would like to express its gratitude to everyone who helped make it so successful. Also we would like to express our thanks to our local businesses, Hartys Bar and Restaurant, Cloyne and The Hunted Hog, Castlemartyr for providing the lunches and snacks for our coaches on Friday and Saturday. To Aherne's Centra, Castlemartyr for the ice creams enjoyed by all on Saturday and to Hurley's Supervalu Midleton for providing the fruit for the girls' mid morning snacks. An extra special thanks to Colm and Clodagh at Castle Pharmacy, Castlemartyr, our club sponsor, for their generosity, once again, sponsoring the training tops for this years camp. Every year we are supported by our local businesses and its important that we support them in return. And on a final note congratulations to our U11 player Isabel Murphy who's name was drawn out to win the €50 voucher to be spent in the club shop.
